This year, third time in a row, Belgrade will join the European metropolises, whose festive atmosphere is spiced up with traditional Christmas festivals. Cheerful winter decorations and wooden cottages spreading the smell of cakes, boiled wine, tea and other tasty drinks and snacks, will make a special holiday corner at Republic Square. The event takes place from December 14th 2013 to January 12th 2014, every day from 10 a.m. to 23 p.m.The program of "Square of an Open Heart" is entirely dedicated to children. Every weekend the kids will enjoy the children's shows, ballet, musicals and performances of magicians, jugglers and entertainers. On December 31st the theatre "Boško Buha" is preparing a special surprise for the children, the official Santa Claus welcome at the "Square of an Open Heart". In the festive spirit, traditionally, this event has charity character. When buying a unique souvenir of this manifestation, the New Year’s Cup, at a price of 150 dinars, each visitor contributes to the procurement of teaching aids for students with disabilities who are educated in an inclusive system in regular primary and secondary schools in Belgrade.
Specially designed charity cottage, where visitors will be able to bring toys and children’s wardrobe, will be opened every day from 16 p.m. to 20 p.m., and on weekends from 12 p.m. to 20 p.m. Upon the event, everything collected will be donated to the orphanages in Belgrade. Last year, thanks to the generous response of Belgrade citizens, we collected a large amount of clothes and children toys, which was in collaboration with the City of Belgrade, distributed at 14 different addresses, including "The Centre for the Protection of Infants, Children and Youth" at Zvečanska Street, ‘’Safe House’’ and "Home for the children with disabilities Sremčica", and others.
