Equestrian sport began to flourish in Serbia during the 19thcentury and first half of the 20thcentury. The Belgrade Hippodrome was built in 1914 and race meetings, as a rule, take place on Sunday afternoons from April to October, attracting the best specimens from Serbia and nearby countries. Though there are many new stud farms, Zobnatica, Karađorđevo, Kelebija and Ljubičevo are still the leaders. If you visit one of the stud farms, you will learn about the breeding of horses and the development of equestrian sport in Serbia.
